June 16th, 2007 Author: Aftab Aslam

When you build your website you need to have a plan first. The reason for this is if you do not have a plan you will likely make mistakes, forget to include information, and overall have an unorganized and not a well thought out page. While you might read the page and completely understand everything, remember that your website visitor did not design the page and needs a little more direction. Read the following 10 website blunt are common and will make your visitors head to another site quickly. ders tha

Blunder #1 Contact Information
You need to provide your contact information, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and physical address if important. The reason for this is if a potential customer wants to contact you for whatever reason they can!

Blunder #2 Poor Organization
Make sure your website is well organized and that all links are obvious. You should even use subheadings to make it even more clear where information is. You don’t want to have to make people search.

Blunder #3 Checkout
Make the checkout process straightforward and easy. Too many times people get to the checkout and it is difficult, asks for a lot of unnecessary information, and generally takes longer than the customer wants to spend buying the product. As a result, the potential customer leaves your site to buy elsewhere. Don’t let this happen to you, make your checkout fast and easy!

Blunder #4 Typos
If your website has typographical errors, it will be noticed by your visitors. Many people consider this a sign of a novice, not a professional who is in business trying to make a living. If your website is full of typos, people are not going to believe that you take your site seriously and as a result they won’t either.

Keep it simple. If you are asking for memberships, checkouts, or anything that requires information, do not use a lot of forms. Figure out what questions you really need to ask and keep it short and sweet.

Blunder #8 You, not We
Focus on your customers, their needs, and what you can do for them. Your customer is not going to your page to find out about you, but what you can do for them. Remember this and if you have to put a web history about yourself, then do so in a special section where people can opt to read it.

Blunder #9 Help People Make a Decision
People might not know what they want when they go to your website. So, lead them, make suggestions about products, and provide backgrounds and uses for different products.

Blunder #10 Focus
Make sure the focus of your site is obvious and clear from the first page of your site and throughout.

Sell Domains On Ebay - A Few Tips To Consider When You Sell Domains In Auction Format

June 16th, 2007 Author: Aftab Aslam

Choosing the right place to sell domains is a difficult choice. There are literally dozens of sites out there that will help you sell domains. Some take brokerage fees for each domain sale you make through them, and some don’t. Some offer customer support, technical guidelines, and transaction security, while others don’t. When you sell domains, you have make a clear decision as to where you will allocate your time. This article will indicate one of the best places to sell domains: EBay.

Everyone has heard of Ebay, but is it really a good place to sell domains?

EBay is one of the more popular options out there to sell domain names. Traditionally, people used eBay more as a garage sale site rather than a broker to sell domains. While eBay does take a fee when you sell domains, they also expand your market to millions of other webmasters looking for a domain. Although free listings do exist, they won’t get your domain sale much exposure. Ebay offers additional listing options which you have to pay for. These additional options can double or even triple to amount of exposure you get when you sell domains through an eBay listing.

One of the key selling points on eBay is how the auction is marketed. Before you decide on your starting price, have the domain name appraised. Whenever you sell domains, you should get them appraised from an unbiased third party that knows how to sell domains.

EBay domain sellers tend to set up a landing page on their domain. This definitely increases the perceived value of a domain, especially if you are selling domains in the thousand dollar range. Aim for something that looks nice to the user. They will most likely check out the site before placing a bid, and if they get a page that really says ‘wow’, they are more likely to bid extra. When you sell domains through eBay, you need to dress your domain: get a tailored look for both the domain’s landing page and the auction.

Here’s a final tip: when you sell domains, consider a private auction format. Some people don’t like their identities to be revealed. Furthermore, if you know you are holding onto a piece of gold, start the auction at $1. You should know that when people sell domains on eBay, attention is everything. The more bids it draws, the more attention it will receive from other buyers. Auctions with dozens of bids are usually the first to be looked at. Grab the eBayer’s attention as fast as possible. Make sure to include the domain name in the auction title. If it’s a good domain, this will also grab the user’s attention. If you can hook the user early, you will in turn get more bids on your auction. Sell domains correctly, and you are sure to profit.

How to Promote Your Website by Focusing on a Page Layout Design That Will Appeal to a Mass Audience

June 7th, 2007 Author: Aftab Aslam

A very large percentage of the internet audience has screen size resolutions of 1024×768 pixels set as their preference in their computer monitors. Why is this such an important factor in promoting your web pages? Because when you actually do start your major site promotion, you need to design your web pages so that when people actually start clicking on your pages, they have a very pleasant first impression with the visual quality of your page layout and design. If your pages are not optimized for the average person’s computer screen, you will have a major uphill battle on your hands with the issue of keeping those initial click-throughs on your site for the length of time that you need them to stick around and buy your product or service.

At last count, only 25% of all web users use 800×600 screen resolutions, so it does not make sense to aim for that audience with your web design. As the flat screens get more common as the years progress, you need to do the research to see if your new pages need to be re-designed for that resolution as well. This information regarding the most common resolution in most people’s computer monitors really just helps bring attention as to what elements are essential in developing great page designs and layouts as opposed to the poor design execution that results in the hard-to-read websites we come across far too frequently these days. The following web design questions describe some of the most important issues that must be confronted and corrected by you before your website promotion campaign can be developed:

ARE YOUR WEB PAGES AESTHETICALLY PLEASING TO THE EYE?

This is a technical question as well as a psychological one. Your images on your web pages should be directly underneath or on top of your pictures to make sure that the viewer is not confused about what caption goes with which picture. If a viewer of your web page cannot figure out this small element of your web design, why should that person continue to stay at your site? He will just click onto a website that does have a much better layout design that he is more familiar with, leaving your poorly-executed web pages in the dust.

IS THE TEXT SIZE YOU ARE USING THE PERFECT WIDTH?

A web visitor should also be able to read all of your content very easily, so make sure your font size that all of your pages are using have the largest possible width for the most commonly used resolution screens currently on the market today. In addition to the correct width of your text size, your columns should also always have a very descriptive heading to them so that the viewer will be able to click on the exact information he was looking for when he found your site.

IS ALL OF THE MOST PERTINENT INFORMATION OF YOUR SITE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED ON YOUR HOME PAGE?

When somebody initially clicks on your home page, the first thing they should see is the main content of your website or blog that displays your unique take on whatever it is that your website is all about. For example, if your web pages describe in detail the history of the Italian government’s influence on the Catholic church, you need to draw the web viewer’s attention immediately to your slant on this subject. The best way to do that is by designing your business or blog logo with the correct size so that it’s not too distracting to your web viewer. You really need to focus primarily on what your web viewers really want to see when they visit your site: CONTENT!

You have to make sure that your new logo you love so much is the right size for the top of your screen, otherwise the viewer might not be able to see the entire compelling text of your daily blog. And that well-written headline for the article you just wrote on why Bush should be impeached that really will compel people to subscribe to your newsletter might never be seen by your future web viewers because your logo size cut off a quarter of their viewing screen.

By answering all of these questions, you should now be able to see how all of your web page design elements have to be in place so you can generate and keep the best web page viewers that your new site promotion campaign will attract.

Email Marketing - How to You Create Trust With Your Subscribers?

June 1st, 2007 Author: Aftab Aslam

In short, the way to create trust with your subscribers is to always be consistent. Do what you say you are going to do. If you cannot do it, do not say that you will. If you tell a story, make sure it is the truth – so that every time you tell the story it is the same.

I had a funny instance happen to me once. It was when I had about 1000 articles online and someone had read one of my articles that indicated that I only had about 200 articles online. Then they read the bio in the other article, and it said I had written over 1000 articles. And they wanted to know the discrepancy, and how they could believe me if I couldn’t even get my article counts right.

Now, that is a little unavoidable – we should all know that if I am constantly writing new articles (and currently I am) then I am going to have an increasing number of articles in my bio.

But what are some areas that are avoidable? Be sure to state statistics using the same metric all the time. For example, if I say I ‘take in’ $10,000 and I ‘net’ $8000 – to someone who doesn’t understand the difference, they could think I am being untruthful.

So be sure to be careful when stating anything, that it is the truth – and try to keep metrics similar so there is no confusion.

Another thing is that your email campaign should be congruent with any other campaigns going. I regularly have people on my list mention a new article I have written – people do keep an eye on you, so it pays to be honest and truthful all the time.

Do you want to learn more about how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide to article marketing success, ‘Your Article Writing and Promotion Guide‘

7 Steps to a Great Website

May 26th, 2007 Author: Aftab Aslam

You might not think the way your site looks is very important - but you’d be wrong. People’s first impressions will affect their opinion of the site and your business. In fact, it takes less than a 20th of a second for people to form a lasting opinion of a website.

Before you start work on the actual design of the site, you should have a clear idea of what message you want your design to communicate and what style of design you intend to use.

First, think about the impression you want your target audience to be left with when they visit your site. Should they think of you as “trustworthy”, “young” or “high-tech”? Then look at other people’s sites, as well as ads in magazines and newspapers, to find a style you think would work for you. Once you find a style you like, ask a few potential customers what they think. After all, they’re the people who’ll be using your site.

Mood Boards

An effective way to plan your site’s look-and-feel is to create a mood board.

Find objects with a style, colour or shape which reflect how you want this site to look, for example magazine ads and pieces of fabric, and then stick them to a sheet of card. This will help you establish a mood for the site when you’re designing it, such as “dark and gothic” or “young and funky”.

A mood board will give you a good starting point for your site’s design and can help communicate your ideas to other people. It should also give you ideas for colours, images and typeface.

7 Steps to a Great Site

  1. Planning: Before you start work on your website you need to plan it thoroughly. Make sure you set a clear goal for your site and then use your knowledge of your target audience to work out how you are going to achieve it.
  2. Design: The next stage is to design your site in a graphics package, like Photoshop. It’s important to finalize the design before you start to build the site, as it’s much quicker and cheaper to make changes in Photoshop than it is in HTML.
  3. Writing and Content Gathering: During the planning stage, you should have decided which pages your site will contain. Now it’s time to write the text and decide which pictures to use. You can often create the content at the same time as the site’s being designed.
  4. Building the Site: Once you know what the site’s going to look like and what it will contain, you need to turn it into an actual website. You’ll use HTML and CSS to create web pages based on your Photoshop designs. You might create a database as well.
  5. Testing: Does the site work? Can people use it as you’d expected? Before launching your site you need to test it thoroughly. Check for broken links and make sure the site works on difference browsers. Also, check for spelling mistakes.
  6. Promotion: Your site’s completed so now you can sit back and watch the visitors roll in - right? Not quite! Getting your website up there is just the start; now you need to get people to visit, using search engines, marketing and word of mouth.
  7. Evolution: Once your site’s finished and visitors start arriving, you may think your work’s done - but it isn’t. The best sites constantly make small improvements and test new ideas.
